Circuit/System Description

Voltage is supplied to the electronic suspension control (ESC) module in the battery positive voltage and the Ignition voltage circuits. The ESC module monitors the supplied voltage to determine if it is within a valid operating range.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The DTC is set when the system voltage is outside the normal range of 9-15.5 volts.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Traction Control System (TCS) and Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • The TCS indicator turns ON.
    • The DIC displays the SERVICE RIDE CONTROL message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC is saved as history when the ESC module no longer sees system voltage outside the normal range of 9-15.5 volts. The DTC will clear if the fault does not return after 50 consecutive ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

    • A high or low voltage DTC set in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system.
    • A possible cause of this DTC could be overcharging with a battery charger or jump starting.
    • A high or low voltage value in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Verify DTC  C0895 is set as current.
  2. Engine running, measure and record the voltage at the battery terminals.
  3. Verify that the battery voltage is 12.6-15.5   volts.
  4. If the battery voltage is not within the specified range, refer to Charging System Test
  5. Engine running, observe the ESC scan tool ignition voltage signal parameter.
  6. Verify that the scan tool displays a value that is within 2  volts of the battery terminal voltage.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Engine running measure and record the voltage at the battery terminals. Verify that the battery voltage is 12.6-15.5  volts.
  2. If the battery voltage is not within the specified range, refer to Charging System Test
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the ESC module.
  4. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the ground circuit terminal  2 and ground.
  5. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. Ignition On, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit and Ignition circuit listed below.
  7. • B+ terminal 1
    • IGN terminal 19
    If test lamp did not illuminate , test the B+ or the Ignition circuit for an open/high resistance.
  8. If all circuits test normal, replace the ESC module.

Repair Instructions
