Headlamp Washer System Components

The headlamp washer system consists of the following components:

    • Body control module (BCM)
    • Headlamp washer relay
    • Headlamp washer fluid pump
    • HDLP WASH 20A fuse

Headlamp Washer System Operation

Battery voltage is supplied at all times to the switched input side of the headlamp washer relay with the ignition in the ON position. The headlamps also need to be in the ON position to allow for headlamp washer operation. After every fourth request for a windshield washer operation, a headlamp wash cycle is initiated. The body control module (BCM) controls this operation by applying battery voltage through the control circuit to the coil side of the headlamp washer relay. The relay energizes and applies battery positive voltage through it's switch contacts and the control circuit of the headlamp washer pump. A headlamp wash cycle consists of a prewash, then a pause, and then a wash operation.
