    • Rear Compartment Lid Pull Down Actuator

Rear Compartment Lid Release Operation

The rear compartment lid is operated by the either the interior or exterior rear compartment lid release switch. When either switch is pressed, the trunk release switch signal circuit is switched to ground. When this input is seen, the BCM grounds the trunk release relay control circuit, opening the rear compartment lid. If accessing the rear compartment using the exterior rear compartment lid release switch, a valid keyless entry transmitter is required to be within a 1 meter range of the rear compartment lid release switch. This allows the required keyless access communications to occur between the rear compartment antenna and the keyless entry transmitter. For more information about keyless access, refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation.

Trunk Ajar Indicator

The body control module (BCM) receives a discrete input from the trunk ajar switch signal circuit. The trunk ajar switch is integral to the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. When the trunk is opened, the normally open trunk ajar switch closes. With the trunk ajar switch closed, ground is provided to the trunk ajar switch signal circuit. The BCM interprets this and communicates via Class 2 serial data with the instrument panel cluster (IPC). When the trunk is open/ajar and the vehicle is in any gear other than PARK, the driver information center (DIC) will display TRUNK AJAR. If the trunk is still ajar and the vehicles speed is greater than 4.8 km/h (3 mph) a chime will sound.
