Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to the following procedures in SIR.
  2. •  SIR Disabling and Enabling

    •  SIR Disabling and Enabling

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  4. Remove the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement .
  5. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  6. Remove the closeout/insulator panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  7. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  8. Remove the I/P compartment trim bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Trim Bezel Replacement .
  9. Remove the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  10. Remove the left knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  11. Remove the right and the left I/P trim panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side and to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  12. Remove the right and the left hinge pillar trim. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  13. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  14. Remove the right and the left I/P end caps. Pull outward to disengage the caps from the I/P.
  15. Remove the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  16. Remove the I/P cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  17. Remove the speakers from the I/P. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  18. Remove the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) and the YAW sensors from the I/P carrier.
  19. Remove the global positioning system (GPS) antenna from the I/P carrier. Refer to Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Replacement in Navigation Systems.
  20. Remove the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  21. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  23. Remove the retaining bolts and nuts from the I/P carrier.

  24. Object Number: 1224684  Size: SH
  25. Remove the retaining bolts from the lower beam behind the I/P compartment door.

  26. Object Number: 1224690  Size: SH
  27. Remove the I/P compartment striker from the I/P carrier.
  28. Remove the I/P carrier from the mounting and slowly route all of the wiring from the I/P carrier.
  29. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the I/P carrier to the lower and the upper I/P beams.
  2. Route the I/P wiring harness.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the retaining bolts and nuts to the I/P carrier.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the I/P compartment striker.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the striker to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  8. Install the I/P retaining bolt at the lower beam behind the I/P compartment door.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the steering wheel to the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  11. Install the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  12. Install the GPS antenna to the I/P carrier. Refer to Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Replacement in Navigation Systems.
  13. Install the SDM and the YAW sensors to the I/P carrier.
  14. Install the speakers to the I/P. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  15. Install the I/P cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  16. Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  17. Install the right and the left I/P end caps.
  18. Install the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  19. Install the right and the left hinge pillar trim. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  20. Install the right and the left I/P trim panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side and to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  21. Install the left knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  22. Install the I/P compartment trim bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Trim Bezel Replacement .
  23. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  24. Install the closeout/insulator panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  25. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  26. Install the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement .
  27. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  28. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  29. Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  30. Enable the SIR system. Refer to the following procedures in SIR.
