Tools Required
    • EN-48036 Oil Pump Alignment Tool
    • J 45059 Angle Meter

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1674308 Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the oil pump drive to crankshaft balancer friction washer.

    3. Object Number: 928314 Size: SH
  3. Remove the  3 oil pump assembly retaining bolts (1, 2, 3) identified by the larger head size.
  4. Slide the oil pump assembly off the nose of the crankshaft with the drive collar in place.

    5. Object Number: 1674296 Size: SH
  5. Remove the crankshaft sprocket to oil pump drive friction washer.
  6. Disassemble the oil pump as necessary. Refer to Oil Pump Disassemble .
  7. Clean and inspect the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Cleaning and Inspection .
  8. Assemble the oil pump if necessary. Refer to Oil Pump Assemble .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1674296 Size: SH
  1. Install the crankshaft sprocket to oil pump drive friction washer.

    2. Object Number: 1275672 Size: SH
  2. Install the oil pump drive spacer (1) into the oil pump (2) so that the drive flat engages the pump rotor.

    3. Object Number: 1674298 Size: SH
  3. Install the oil pump.

    4. Object Number: 1674299 Size: SH

    Notice: The EN 48036 must be used during the installation of the oil pump. Failure to use the EN 48036 to align the oil pump to the crankshaft can lead to oil pump damage and severe engine damage.

  4. Install the EN-48036 over the crankshaft nose and up to the oil pump.

    5. Object Number: 1674300 Size: SH
  5. Loosely install the oil pump bolts.

    6. Object Number: 1660812 Size: SH
  6. Apply force by hand to the EN-48036 against the oil pump in order to align the pump to the oil pump drive.
  7. Install the retaining bolts.

    8. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1674307 Size: SH
  8. While keeping force on the EN-48036 tighten the oil pump bolts in sequence (1, 2, 3) as shown.

    9. Tighten

    1. First Pass

      2. Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts in sequence to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    2. Final Pass

      3. Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts in sequence an additional 35 degrees using the J 45059 .

  9. Remove the EN-48036 .

  10. Install the oil pump drive to crankshaft balancer friction washer.
  11. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
