Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2005 🢒 XLR 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Automatic Transmission - 5L40-E/5L50-E 🢒 Case Extension and Gasket Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Place the transmission in Neutral.
  2. Remove differential. Refer to Differential Replacement in Driveline/Axle.
  3. Place a suitable transmission jack under the transmission pan to support the transmission.

    4. Object Number: 792819 Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts (3) from the case extension housing.
  5. Remove the case extension housing (2) and the gasket seal (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 792819 Size: SH

    Important: The case extension gasket seal is reusable. Replace the gasket ONLY if the sealing surface is damaged.

  1. Install the case extension housing (2) and the gasket seal (1).
  2. Install the case extension housing bolts (3).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the case extension housing bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  3. Install the differential. Refer to Differential Replacement in Driveline/Axle.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Place the transmission in Park.
