Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2005 🢒 XLR 🢒 Body 🢒 Lighting Systems 🢒 Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb and/or Cornering, Sidemarker, Park, Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: The high intensity discharge system produces high voltage and current. To reduce the risk of severe shocks and burns:

   • Never open the high intensity discharge system ballast or the arc tube assembly starter.
   • Never probe between the high intensity discharge system ballast output connector and the arc tube assembly.

  1. Open the hood.

    2. Object Number: 915128 Size: SH
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (2) from the electrical connector (1) to the headlamp wiring harness.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the headlamp wiring harness.
  4. Remove the front fascia close-out panel. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Lower Close Out Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

  5. Remove the nuts (2) attaching the headlamp assembly (1) to the front wheelhouse (3).
  6. Remove the headlamp (1) from the wheelhouse (3).

    7. Object Number: 922649 Size: SH
  7. Remove the park/turn bulb/socket by rotating the socket counterclockwise (1).

    8. Object Number: 922677 Size: SH
  8. Remove the bulb from the socket.

    9. Object Number: 922645 Size: SH
  9. Remove the side marker bulb/socket by rotating the socket counterclockwise (1).

    10. Object Number: 922718 Size: SH
  10. Remove the bulb from the socket.

    11. Object Number: 922639 Size: SH
  11. Remove the position bulb/socket by rotating the socket counterclockwise.

    12. Object Number: 922593 Size: SH
  12. Remove the bulb from the socket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 922677 Size: SH
  1. Install the bulb to the socket.

    2. Object Number: 922647 Size: SH
  2. Rotate the park/turn bulb/socket clockwise (1) until the bulb/socket is fully seated.

    3. Object Number: 922718 Size: SH
  3. Install the bulb to the socket.

    4. Object Number: 922643 Size: SH
  4. Rotate the side marker bulb/socket clockwise (1) until the bulb/socket is fully seated.

    5. Object Number: 922593 Size: SH
  5. Install the bulb to the socket.

    6. Object Number: 922636 Size: SH
  6. Rotate the position bulb/socket clockwise until the bulb/socket is fully seated.

    7. Object Number: 915129 Size: SH

    Important: Properly install the rubber grommet (1) to the headlamp wiring harness and seal the grommet to the wheelhouse in order to avoid chafing of the wiring harness.

  7. Install the headlamp wiring harness to the wheelhouse.

    8. Object Number: 915127 Size: SH
  8. Position the headlamp (1) to the wheelhouse (3).

    9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  9. Install the nuts (2) attaching the headlamp (1) to the front wheelhouse (3).

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  10. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the headlamp wiring harness.
  11. Install the CPA (2) to the headlamp electrical connector (1).
  12. Install the front fascia closeout panel. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Lower Close Out Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  13. Inspect the headlamp for proper operation and aim if required. Refer to Headlamp Aiming
  14. Close the hood.
