  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the dimmer switch in the DOME position.

Do the courtesy lamps operate from the interior lamp switch?

Go to Step 3

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Place the dimmer switch in the OFF position.
  3. Activate each exterior door handle one at a time, waiting for the courtesy lamps to turn OFF before activating the next door handle.
  4. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate when each exterior door handle is activated?

  1. Activate each interior door handle one at a time, waiting for the courtesy lamps to turn OFF before activating the next door handle.
  2. Observe the courtesy lamps.

  1. Unlock the vehicle doors using the remote keyless entry (RKE) system.
  2. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Test the interior door handle switch signal circuit of the inoperative interior door handle for an open, high resistance, or short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
