Water Crossover Disassemble Seville/DeVille

Tools Required

J 38816-A Water Pump Remover/Installer


    Object Number: 639830 Size: SH
  1. Remove the heater inlet pipe fitting.

    2. Object Number: 522707 Size: SH
  2. Remove the engine coolant outlet fitting.
  3. Remove the rear lift bracket bolt.
  4. Remove the rear lift bracket.

    5. Object Number: 522706 Size: SH
  5. Remove the EVAP emission canister purge valve bolts.
  6. Remove the EVAP emission canister purge valve.

    7. Object Number: 522705 Size: SH
  7. Remove the EGR bracket shield nut.
  8. Remove the EGR bracket shield.

    9. Object Number: 522703 Size: SH
  9. Remove the EGR valve bolts.
  10. Remove the EGR valve.
  11. Remove the EGR gasket.

    12. Object Number: 522701 Size: SH
  12. Remove the throttle body bolts.
  13. Remove the throttle body and plenum duct.
  14. Discard the plenum duct, do not reuse.

    15. Object Number: 522700 Size: SH
  15. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket bolts.
  16. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket.

    17. Object Number: 522699 Size: SH
  17. Remove the MAP sensor.

    18. Object Number: 522698 Size: SH
  18. Remove the water pump cover bolt and studs.
  19. Remove the water pump cover.

    20. Object Number: 522696 Size: SH
  20. Remove the water outlet bolts.
  21. Remove the water outlet and thermostat.
  22. Remove the water pump cover gasket.

    23. Object Number: 637030 Size: SH
  23. Remove the water pump and seal using the following procedure:
    24. 23.1. Index the J 38816-A socket into the water pump.
    23.2. Align the J 38816-A support plate on the water crossover.
    23.3. Install the J 38816-A support plate on the water crossover using the water pump cover bolts.
    23.4. Unlock the water pump from the water crossover by turning the J 38816-A socket clockwise.
    23.5. Remove the J 38816-A support plate from the water crossover.
    23.6. Remove the J 38816-A socket.
    23.7. Remove the water pump.
    23.8. Remove the water pump seal and discard.

  2. Remove the engine coolant outlet fitting.
  3. Remove the rear lift bracket bolt.
  4. Remove the rear lift bracket.

    5. Object Number: 522706 Size: SH
  5. Remove the EVAP emission canister purge valve bolts.
  6. Remove the EVAP emission canister purge valve.

    7. Object Number: 522705 Size: SH
  7. Remove the EGR bracket shield nut.
  8. Remove the EGR bracket shield.

    9. Object Number: 522703 Size: SH
  9. Remove the EGR valve bolts.
  10. Remove the EGR valve.
  11. Remove the EGR gasket.

    12. Object Number: 522701 Size: SH
  12. Remove the throttle body bolts.
  13. Remove the throttle body and plenum duct.
  14. Discard the plenum duct, do not reuse.

    15. Object Number: 522700 Size: SH
  15. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket bolts.
  16. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket.

    17. Object Number: 522699 Size: SH
  17. Remove the MAP sensor.

    18. Object Number: 522698 Size: SH
  18. Remove the water pump cover bolt and studs.
  19. Remove the water pump cover.

    20. Object Number: 522696 Size: SH
  20. Remove the water outlet bolts.
  21. Remove the water outlet and thermostat.
  22. Remove the water pump cover gasket.

    23. Object Number: 637030 Size: SH
  23. Remove the water pump and seal using the following procedure:
    24. 23.1. Index the J 38816-A socket into the water pump.
    23.2. Align the J 38816-A support plate on the water crossover.
    23.3. Install the J 38816-A support plate on the water crossover using the water pump cover bolts.
    23.4. Unlock the water pump from the water crossover by turning the J 38816-A socket clockwise.
    23.5. Remove the J 38816-A support plate from the water crossover.
    23.6. Remove the J 38816-A socket.
    23.7. Remove the water pump.
    23.8. Remove the water pump seal and discard.
