    • A component comparison from the previous year

Torque Values and/or Fastener Tightening Strategies

The fastener tightening specifications for engine unit repair have not changed for 2002.

Changed Engine Specifications

The engine specifications for engine unit repair have not changed for 2002.

New Sealants and/or Adhesives

The sealants and adhesives for engine unit repair have not changed for 2002.

Disassembly and Assembly Procedure Revisions

The removal and installation procedures for the engine front cover oil seal are no longer required. The engine front cover oil seal and engine front cover are serviced only as an assembly.

Engine Mechanical Diagnostic Procedure Revisions

All diagnosis on a vehicle should follow a logical process. Strategy based diagnostics is a uniform approach for repairing all systems. The diagnostic flow may always be used in order to resolve a system problem. The diagnostic flow is the place to start when repairs are necessary. New Special Tools Required

The engine front cover oil seal is not serviceable separately and the J 38818 is not required.

A Component Comparison from the Previous Year

The engine front cover oil seal and engine front cover are serviced only as an assembly.

The PCV valve has been replaced by a non-serviceable orifice.
