Circuit Description

The mirror switch that failed and generated this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a built in part of the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). There are no external circuits. The DDSA contains a microprocessor which takes the signal generated by the contacts of this switch and assigns it a digital message. The DDSA then sends this message over the power door serial data link to the driver door module (DDM). On a normally functioning system with no failures present, the DDM then either moves the driver side mirror or sends commands over the power door serial data link to the front passenger door module (PDM) to move the passenger side mirror.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The DDM must be powered for this DTC to set.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

If the DDM receives the message that the contacts of the mirror switch are closed for more than 30 continuous seconds, the DDM sets the appropriate DTC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The DDM ignores the continuous message from the DDSA for this pair of switch contacts. The DDM will not respond to the invalid mirror switch message as a command for either door mirror. The DDM will respond to all other valid mirror switch messages.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

When the switch message status changes, the DDM clears this current DTC and stores it as history. The history DTC will clear either after 50 OFF/ON ignition switch cycles without a repeated failure, or in response to a scan tool command.
