Schematic Reference: Door Control Module Schematics

DEFINITION: Diagnosis of one of the following DIC messages:

    • DRIVER DOOR AJAR
    • PASSENGER DOOR AJAR
    • LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR
    • RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR

Did you perform the the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the Door Ajar Message Inoperative complaint is present.

Does the door ajar message system operate as described in the system Description and Operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF
  3. Open the suspect door.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the parameter of the suspect door ajar switch in the Driver Door Module, Inputs list:
  5. • Driver Door Ajar Sw.
    • Passenger Door Ajar Sw.
    • Left Rear Door Ajar Sw.
    • Right Rear Door Ajar Sw.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector of the suspect door ajar switch.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the ajar switch signal and ground circuits of the harness connector.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Door Ajar Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Go to Step 8

Test the ground circuit of the suspect door ajar switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 6

Test the door ajar switch signal circuit for the following conditions:

    • An open
    • A short to voltage
    • A high resistance

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the suspect door module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the suspect door ajar switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the suspect door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Replace the door lock actuator that contains the suspect door ajar switch. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
