Diagnostic Aids

When observing the Driver Mirror Switches parameter on the scan tool, remember that the display will read "Fold" when the fold switch is activated to either, the Extend function,or, the Retract function.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Observe the Driver Mirror Switches parameter in the Driver Door Module, Inputs, list.
  5. Momentarily press the mirror fold switch.

Did the scan tool parameter momentarily display Fold, and then return to Idle?

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the C3 harness connector from the door module associated with the inoperative mirror.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the folding mirror motor retract circuit and the folding mirror motor extend circuit at the door module pins.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Observe the test lamp.

Is the test lamp illuminated?

Go to Step 6

Momentarily press the fold switch several times, while observing the test lamp.

Did the test lamp illuminate each time the fold switch was momentarily pressed?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative power mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the door module associated with the inoperative mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door switch assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the inoperative power mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 11

Replace the door module associated with the inoperative mirror. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the driver door switch assembly. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
