The HYDRA-MATIC 4T80-E transmission has a filter under the side cover that requires service only during transmission overhaul. Scavenging screens are beneath the bottom pan, which you must replace when you change the transmission fluid.

1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
2. Remove the case side cover and gasket. Refer to Side Cover, Gasket, and Filter Removal in the Transmission Unit Repair Manual.

1. Install the case side cover and gasket. Refer to Oil Filter and Side Cover Install in the Transmission Unit Repair Manual.
2. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
