Circuit Description

The steering column module provides a 5 volt reference voltage to the tilt position sensor circuit and the telescope position sensor circuit. The steering column module has a designated circuit that monitors the 5 volt reference voltage.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The steering column module is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The DTC will set as current when the voltage is out of the range of 4.6 volts to 5.2 volts for 1.2 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Memory recall functions for the steering column module will be disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will clear from the current status when the voltage is within the range of 4.6 volts to 5.2 volts for 1.2 seconds
    • Use a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

A short to ground in any of the tilt or telescope position sensor circuits may damage the tilt/telescoping module.

Test the tilt and telescope position sensor circuits for a short to ground.

Important:: Perform the set up procedure for the steering column module

Replace the tilt/telescoping steering column module Refer to Steering Column Control Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 4

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
