Minor Scratches to Wood Steering Wheels (Refinish)

This bulletin is being revised to add additional vehicles and to update the model year information. Please Discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-02-35-002

Some customers may comment that the wood section of the steering wheel has minor scratches in the clear coat.

1. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to the Steering Wheel and Column subsection of the Service Manual.
2. Wash the wood section of the wheel with wax and grease remover.
3. Mask off the non wood area of the steering wheel.
4. Sand with 400 grit sand paper first. Finish sanding with 600 grit . DO NOT SAND THROUGH THE CLEAR.
5. Rewash the wood section of the wheel with wax and grease remover.
6. Clear coat the steering wheel. Refer to the 2003 GM Approved Refinish Materials Booklet, GM 4901 M-D-2003 (English) or 4901 M-D-F2003 (French).
