Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine sight shield retaining bolts and the engine sight shield.
  2. Disconnect the EVAP purge solenoid electrical connector.
  3. Using the quick-connect fitting, disconnect the EVAP purge hose from the EVAP purge solenoid.
  4. Partially open the throttle.
  5. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid retaining bolt.
  6. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Be sure to install the new O-ring on the EVAP purge solenoid.

  1. Partially open the throttle.
  2. Install the EVAP purge solenoid.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the EVAP purge solenoid retaining bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  6. Allow the throttle to close.
  7. Reconnect the EVAP purge hoses using the quick-connect fitting.
  8. Reconnect the EVAP purge solenoid electrical connector.
  9. Install the engine sight shield and retaining bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (70 lb in).
