Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement LH2

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  2. Loosen the air cleaner assembly front half retaining screws.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly front half.
  4. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  5. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  6. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

    Important: DO NOT try to remove the power steering pump nut from the power steering pressure hose. The power steering pump nut is a quick-connect fitting and once the power steering pressure hose is installed, the quick-connect fitting cannot be removed. If a new power steering pressure hose is required for further repairs, then a new power steering pump nut will be required.

  8. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) from the power steering pump.

  10. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to the frame mounting bolts.

  11. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  12. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.

  13. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  14. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the steering gear.
  15. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb in).


    Object Number: 1301597  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to frame mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

    Important: Ensure the O-ring between the power steering fluid inlet hose fitting and the power steering pump is not cut or torn. Replace if needed before continuing the repair.

  7. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) to the power steering pump.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb in)

  9. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  10. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  11. Install the air cleaner assembly front half.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  13. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  14. Bill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement LY7

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  3. Loosen the air cleaner assembly front half retaining screws.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly front half.
  5. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  7. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) from the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 1304393  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to the frame mounting bolts.

  10. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.

  12. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  13. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the steering gear.
  14. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb in).


    Object Number: 1304393  Size: SH
  7. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to frame mounting bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

    Important: Start all of the steering gear bolts and nuts by hand before finalizing any torques.

  9. Install the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) to the power steering pump.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb in).

  11. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  12. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly front half.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  15. Install the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  16. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
