Power Steering Pump Replacement LH2

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  5. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  7. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 1998936  Size: SH

    Important: DO NOT try to remove the power steering pump nut from the power steering pressure hose. The power steering pump nut is a quick-connect fitting and once the power steering pressure hose is installed, the quick-connect fitting cannot be removed. If a new power steering pressure hose is required for further repairs, then a new power steering pump nut will be required.

  9. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) from the power steering pump.

  11. Remove the power steering pump to engine mounting bolt.

  12. Object Number: 888277  Size: SH
  13. Remove the power steering bracket to the engine bolts.
  14. Remove the power steering pump with bracket from the vehicle.
  15. Remove the power steering pump to power steering bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump to power steering bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement .
  2. Install the power steering pump with bracket to the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 888277  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering bracket to the engine bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pump to the engine mounting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  8. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

  9. Object Number: 1998936  Size: SH

    Important: Ensure the O-ring between the power steering fluid inlet hose fitting and the power steering pump is not cut or torn. Replace if needed before continuing the repair.

  10. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) to the power steering pump.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb in).

  12. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
  13. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  14. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  15. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  16. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  17. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pump Replacement LY7

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  2. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  3. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  4. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  7. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 1998934  Size: SH

    Important: DO NOT try to remove the power steering pump nut from the power steering pressure hose. The power steering pump nut is a quick-connect fitting and once the power steering pressure hose is installed, the quick-connect fitting cannot be removed. If a new power steering pressure hose is required for further repairs, then a new power steering pump nut will be required.

  9. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) from the power steering pump.

  11. Remove the power steering bracket to the engine mounting bolts  (1, 2, and 3).
  12. Remove the power steering pump with bracket from the vehicle.
  13. Remove the power steering pump bracket from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump to the power steering pump bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 888286  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering pump with bracket to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the power steering pump bracket to the engine mounting bolts  (1, 2 and 3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in sequence to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

    Important: Ensure the O-ring between the power steering fluid inlet hose fitting and the power steering pump is not cut or torn. Replace if needed before continuing the repair.

  7. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting (1) to the power steering pump.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
  10. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  11. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  12. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  13. Install the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  14. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
