Auxiliary Water Pump Replacement 4.6L (LH2) w/RPOs V03/V92

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 1288671  Size: SH
  3. Using the J 38185 slide the hose clamp down on the hose (3).
  4. Disconnect the hose from the auxiliary water pump.
  5. Using the J 38185 slide the hose clamp back on the hose (1).
  6. Disconnect the hose from the auxiliary water pump.
  7. Disconnect the auxiliary water pump electrical connector.

  9. Remove the auxiliary water pump nuts.
  10. Remove the auxiliary water pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1288667  Size: SH
  1. Install the auxiliary water pump.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the auxiliary water pump nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Connect the auxiliary water pump electrical connector.
  6. Connect the hose (3) to the auxiliary water pump.
  7. Using the J 38185 slide the hose clamp back into the original position on the hose.
  8. Connect the hose (1) to the auxiliary water pump.
  9. Using the J 38185 slide the hose clamp back to the original position on the hose.
  10. Fill the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
