Warranty Admin. - Servicing and Required Return of Complete Body Control Module (BCM) with Integrated Electrical Centers

Subject:Servicing and Required Return of Complete Body Control Module (BCM) with Integrated Electrical Centers

Models:2005-2006 All GM Cars

   •

Many GM carlines utilize an integrated BCM that combines the BCM functions with the external fuses and relays of an electrical center. Some dealers are returning BCMs to the Warranty Parts Center (WPC) that have the fuses and relays removed from them.

   •

Service BCMs with Integrated Fuse Panels come complete with all required fuses and relays required for installation on the vehicle right out of the box. Removal of the fuses and relays from the original BCM prior to return to the WPC severely inhibits the ability of the assembly to be tested by General Motors for failure analysis. Fuses and Relays should not be removed nor disturbed when returning the BCM.

Important: Regional Feedback Reports and potential debits are possible if the components are removed from the BCM prior to return.

   •

As a general practice, all warranty parts should be returned to the WPC in the same configuration as the service part that they were replaced with.
