J 24319-B Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  2. Object Number: 794577  Size: SH
  3. Loosen the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1).

  4. Object Number: 794579  Size: SH
  5. Remove the rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut.

  6. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the rack and pinion outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using puller J 24319-B .

  8. Object Number: 794580  Size: SH

    Note: Note the number of complete turns the rack and pinion outer tie rod end makes during the removal.

  9. Remove the rack and pinion outer tie rod end from the steering linkage inner tie rod.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 794580  Size: SH

    Note: Install the same number of complete turns the rack and pinion outer tie rod end needed to remove as noted above.

  1. Install the rack and pinion outer tie rod end to the steering linkage inner tie rod. Do not tighten the steering linkage inner tie rod nut at this time.
  2. Connect the rack and pinion outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 794578  Size: SH
  4. Install the rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut and tighten to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  5. Object Number: 794577  Size: SH
  6. Tighten the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1) to 65 N·m (48 lb ft)
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  8. Adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.
