Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) retainer. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
  2. Remove the HVAC ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Left Side , Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Right Side , and Windshield Defroster Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

  3. Object Number: 836289  Size: SH
  4. On vehicles with a manual shift transmission, loosen the nuts (2) on the pedal bracket.
  5. Remove the parking brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.

  6. Object Number: 786925  Size: SH
  7. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, loosen the 2 nuts (1) securing the brake pedal bracket to the carrier.
  8. Important: Note the location and routing of the wiring harness and harness retainers.

  9. Disconnect all electrical wire retainers from the carrier assembly.

  11. Remove the nuts securing the carrier to the cowl.
  12. Remove the carrier assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the carrier assembly.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 788231  Size: SH
  3. Install the bolts securing the carrier to the cowl.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the nuts securing the carrier to the firewall under the A pillar.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Connect all electrical wire retainers to the carrier assembly.

  9. On vehicles with a manual shift transmission, loosen the nuts (2) on the pedal bracket.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the parking brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.

  12. Object Number: 786925  Size: SH
  13. Install the 2 nuts (1) securing the brake pedal bracket to the cowl.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  15. Install the HVAC ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Left Side , Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Right Side , and Windshield Defroster Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  16. Install the I/P retainer. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
