Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Close all the doors and the rear compartment lid.
  2. Turn OFF the courtesy lamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Are the courtesy lamps ON?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Close all the doors and the rear compartment lid.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Door Jamb Sw. parameters in each of the door modules inputs data list.
  6. With a scan tool, observe the Liftgate Lighting Switch parameter in the Rear Integration Module (RIM) Inputs Data List.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Door Jamb Sw. and Liftgate Lighting Switch parameters are all OFF?

  1. Ensure the Courtesy Lamp Switch is OFF.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Courtesy Lamp Switch parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Inputs Data List.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Courtesy Lamp Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative door lock actuator or door latch assembly - liftgate.
  3. Turn on the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the appropriate Door Jamb Switch or Liftgate Lighting Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Door Jamb Sw. or Liftgate Lighting Switch parameter is OFF?

Go to Step 11

Test the appropriate door open switch signal circuit of the inoperative door lock actuator or the rear compartment lid ajar switch circuit of the door latch assembly - liftgate for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the courtesy lamp on switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the courtesy lamp control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the I/P dimmer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the RIM.

Replace the inoperative door module or the RIM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
