Removal Procedure

Caution: Handle the oxygen sensors carefully in order to prevent damage to the component. Keep the electrical connector and the exhaust inlet end free of contaminants. Do not use cleaning solvents on the sensor. Do not drop or mishandle the sensor.

Note: 

   • Bank 1 on the LH2 engine in this vehicle is the right side of the engine while sitting in the driver seat.
   • Sensor 1 is the sensor closest to the engine, or farthest forward toward the front of vehicle.
   • A special anti-seize compound is used on the oxygen sensor threads. New service sensors should already have the compound applied to the threads. Coat the threads of a reused sensor with anti-seize compound P/N 5613695 or equivalent.

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
  2. Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector from the engine wiring harness connector at the rear of the right cylinder head.
  3. Record the wire routing and attachment points for reassembly.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  6. Remove oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Install the oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold and tighten to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).
  2. Lower the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 887916  Size: SH
  4. Route and attach the wiring as noted in disassembly.
  5. Connect the oxygen sensor electrical connector to the engine wiring harness connector at the rear of the right head.
  6. Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
