J 23653-SIR Steering Column Lock Plate

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
2. Remove the SIR coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .
3. Remove the bearing Retainer (1) with J 23653-SIR .



4. Remove the shift shaft lock shield assembly (1).
5. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
6. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).

1. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
2. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
3. Install the shift shaft lock shield assembly (1).



4. Install the bearing support onto J 23653-SIR .
5. Press the shift shaft lock shield assembly down with J 23653-SIR .
6. Push the bearing support (1) into position.
7. Remove J 23653-SIR from the steering shaft.
8. Install the SIR coil. Refer to Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
