Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement LH2

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Air Deflector Replacement -- Front .
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 4.6L (LH2) engine.
  4. Loosen the air cleaner assembly front half retaining screws.
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly front half.
  6. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting from the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 1301852  Size: SH
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 1301597  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe to the frame mounting bolts.

  11. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  12. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe to power steering gear retaining bolt.

  13. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  14. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe from the power steering gear.
  15. Remove the power steering pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pipe to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe to power steering gear retaining bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb in).


    Object Number: 1301597  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe to frame mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  7. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Air Deflector Replacement -- Front .
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 1301852  Size: SH
  10. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe fitting to the power steering pump.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 40 N·m (30 lb in).

  12. Install the power steering inlet pipe quick connect to the fitting.
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly front half.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  15. Install the air filter intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 4.6L (LH2) engine.
  16. Remove the drain pan under the vehicle.
  17. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement LY7

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1304375  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Air Deflector Replacement -- Front .
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  4. Loosen the air cleaner assembly front half retaining screws.
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly front half.
  6. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting from the power steering pump.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 1304393  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to the frame mounting bolts.

  10. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.

  12. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  13. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the power steering gear.
  14. Remove the power steering hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering hose to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering gear.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb in).


    Object Number: 1304375  Size: SH
  6. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to frame mounting bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  8. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Air Deflector Replacement -- Front .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering pump.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 40 N·m (30 lb in)

  12. Install the power steering inlet hose quick connect to the fitting.
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly front half.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  15. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  16. Remove the drain pan under the vehicle.
  17. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
