SQUAWK/MOAN WHEN TCC APPLIES ON DECEL/APPROX.1900 RPM

SUBJECT: SQUAWK/MOAN NOISE WHEN TCC APPLIES/ON DECEL AT APPROX. 1900 RPM (INSTALL NEW TRANSAXLE COOLER BRACKETS)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991-92 "C" AND 1992 "H" MODELS

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES AND REPLACES CORPORATE BULLETIN REFERENCE NUMBER 107102." THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO REMOVE 1991 "H" CARS AND TO INCLUDE NEW PARTS AND SERVICE PROCEDURES.

VEHICLES INVOLVED:

1991-92 "C" AND 1992 "H" VEHICLES

CONDITION:

--------- A squawk/moan noise is heard when the TCC applies or a moan noise is heard on decel at approximately 1900 rpm.

CAUSE:

----- This condition could be caused by a ground out of the transaxle cooler pipes at the cooler pipe clips where they attach to the lower tie bar.

CORRECTION:

---------- To correct this condition, it will be necessary to install isolation kit, part number 25614724. The isolation kit consists of two rubber grommets, two metal clips, and two screws.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

(ALL C/H VEHICLES EXCEPT BONNEVILLE SSEi AND VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH TRAILER TOWING OPTION V92)

1. Raise vehicle to gain access to cooler pipe clips attached to lower tie bar. (See illustration)

2. Unlatch both clips to release cooler pipes.

3. Remove clip attaching screws and clips.

4. Attach rubber grommets to cooler pipes in the same location as original clips.

5. Install metal clips over rubber grommets (see illustration).

6. Attach clips to tie bar with screws provided in the kit. Torque to 5-7 N.m (4-5 lb.ft.).

7. Lower vehicle.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

(BONNEVILLE SSEi AND ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH V92 TRAILER TOWING)

1. Raise vehicle to gain access to cooler pipe clips attached to lower tie bar. (See illustration)

2. Unlatch the right side clip only to release cooler pipes.

3. Remove clip attaching screw and clip. (Right side clip only).

4. Attach rubber grommets to cooler pipes in the same location as original clip.

5. Install metal clip over rubber grommets (See illustration).

6. Attach clip to tie bar with screw provided in the kit. Torque to 5-7 N.m (4-5 lb. ft.).

7. Lower vehicle.

8. Discard remaining unused parts from the kit.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:
