FUEL LINES VISIBLE ON VEHICLE (SERVICE PROCEDURE)

SUBJECT: FUEL LINES VISIBLE BELOW VEHICLE (SERVICE PROCEDURE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991-92 "C,H" MODELS PONTIAC BONNEVILLE OLDSMOBILE EIGHTY EIGHT, NINETY EIGHT BUICK LE SABRE, PARK AVENUE CADILLAC DEVILLE, FLEETWOOD

CONDITION:

---------- Some owners of 1991-92 "C" and "H", models may experience a condition where the fuel lines sag below the underbody floor pan creating an unsightly condition.

CAUSE:

------ Under certain conditions, the forces of snow and water splash exerted on the lines may cause them to sag.

CORRECTION:

----------- Three vehicle populations exist. The service procedure for each is listed below:

Population 1: 1991 Park Avenue/Ultra - Start of Production ------------- through M1611200 Olds 98 - None Cadillac - None

A cover/retainer may be added by ordering the following:

Part Number Description ----------- ----------- 25559590 Cover/Retainer 9437938 Rivet 11504330 Bolt 11501085 Nut 12345743 Sealant

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the retainer clips as currently installed.

2. Position the cover/retainer on the floor pan as shown in Figure 1. With a scribe or marker, locate position "B" on the floor pan.

3. Remove the required interior trim to allow a 8 mm (5/16") hole to be drilled through the floor at position "B".

4. Install P/N 11504330, bolt from inside the vehicle. Coat the underside of the bolt head with sealant, P/N 12345743, or equivalent, to prevent water from getting into the passenger compartment.

5. Coat the bolt where it passes to the underside of the floor pan with sealant. Install hex nut, P/N 11501085, and torque to 10-20 N.m (10 lb. ft.).

6. Snap the cover/retainer over the studs at positions "B" and "C"

7. Install the rivet, P/N 9437938, at position "All as shown in the illustration.

Population 2: Park Avenue/Ultra - M1611201 through M1667943 ------------- Olds 98 - M4300026 through M4320753 11-90 - 2-13-91 Cadillac - M4200023 through M4286086

A cover/retainer may be added by ordering cover/retainer, P/N 25559590, and rivet, P/N 9437938 which can be attached to present studs at position "B" and "C" as shown.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the retainer clips as currently installed. See Figure 2.

2. Snap the cover/retainer over the studs at position "B" and "C".

3. Install the cover/retainer as shown in Figure 1. Install rivet, Part Number 9437938, at Position "A" as shown in the illustration.

Population 3: 1991 Park Avenue/Ultra - M1667944 through M1708668 ------------- 1992 LeSabre - NH400021 through NH402434 1991 Olds 98 - M4320754 through M4351349 1992 Olds 88 - NH300014 through NH315320 BC None-Wentzville 1991 Cadillac - N4286087 through N4342355 1992 Pontiac - N1200000 through N1207408

These vehicles were built with a cover/retainer and a plastic push pin at position "A".

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the plastic push pin at position "A". See Figure 2.

2. Install rivet, Part Number 9437938, as shown.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:

Labour Time: Population 1 0.7 Hours. Population 2 0.3 Hours. Population 3 0.2 Hours.
