CAMPAIGN: TRANSAXLE COOLER LINE SEPARATION (CANADA ONLY)

SUBJECT: UPPER TRANSAXLE OIL COOLER LINE SEPARATION

REVISED TO INCLUDE ALL PROVINCES

Models: 1991-1993 Buick Park Avenue, Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight and FWD Cadillac DeVille/Fleetwood/Sixty Special 1992-1993 Buick LeSabre, Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and Pontiac Bonneville

TO: ALL GENERAL MOTORS DEALERS

General Motors of Canada Limited has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1991-1993 Buick Park Avenue, Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight and FWD Cadillac DeVille/Fleetwood/Sixty Special and 1992-1993 Buick LeSabre, Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and Pontiac Bonneville model vehicles. These vehicles have an upper transaxle oil cooler hose which could pull out of the crimped coupling at the transaxle end of the line assembly. Under certain climatic conditions and under certain driving conditions, if this coupling were to separate and an ignition source were present, an engine compartment fire could occur.

To prevent this condition from occurring, dealers are to install a new upper transaxle oil cooler line (to transaxle) on all involved vehicles.

VEHICLES INVOLVED:

Involved are certain 1991-1993 Buick Park Avenue, Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight and FWD Cadillac DeVille/Fleetwood/Sixty Special and 1992-1993 Buick LeSabre, Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and Pontiac Bonneville model vehicles.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
