FUSE PANEL OPENS ON BUMPS REPOSITION FUSE BLOCK PANEL

SUBJECT: FUSE BLOCK PANEL FALLS OPEN

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1991 DeVilles and Fleetwoods built before VIN breakpoint 205461 may experience the fuse panel opening while traveling over bumps or when the park brake is released.

To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Lower the fuse block by pinching the release tabs.

2. Locate the fuse block retention stud. Refer to Figure 1. The stud can be seen looking upward through the fuse block opening.

3. Using a 10mm socket loosen the nut which secures the fuse block bracket to the stud. With the nut loosened, push the entire fuse block bracket as far forward as possible. Hold the bracket in the forward position and tighten the nut 8-11 N.m (10-14 lbs. in.).

If necessary, reattach the fuse block retainer to the bracket by snapping the retainer over the ears of the bracket. Return the fuse block to the closed position.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T5210 at .2 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
