INFORMATION ON DRIVEABILITY SYMPTOM & ECM/PCM/DATA WORKSHT

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON DRIVEABILITY SYMPTOM AND ECM/PCM DATA WORKSHEET'S FOR ALL CADILLAC MODELS

Attached are copies of a Driveability Symptom Worksheet and an ECM/PCM Data Worksheet. These forms may be photocopied and used by service writers, technicians, and service managers to assist in the diagnosis of driveability conditions.

The Driveability Symptom Worksheet should be completed by the service writer based on information provided by the owner and/or a test drive. This form should be attached to the repair order and provided to the technician to aid in the diagnosis of the condition.

The ECM/PCM Data Worksheet should be completed by the service writer and/or technician as needed to provide a reference during ECM/PCM code diagnosis or for intermittent driveability conditions. This form should also be attached to the repair order.

If properly completed, these forms can help to quickly and accurately diagnose and repair vehicles with driveability conditions. These forms can also provide CAD-STAR with valuable vehicle data and contain all of the necessary information to be sent via a facsimile (FAX) machine. When detailed symptom, code set, or snapshot data is requested during an on going CAD-STAR case, you will be instructed on how to send the completed forms. These forms do not eliminate the need to fill out the CAD-STAR Pre-Call Worksheet, available from Helm, Inc., form number H-8645R.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
