METRI-PAK 150 PULL TO SEAT TERMINALS (OPEN CONNECTIONS)

SUBJECT: OPEN OR INTERMITTENT CONNECTIONS WITH METRI-PAK 150 PULL-TO-SEAT TERMINALS ON EARLY 1991 CADILLACS

Early 1991 C, D, E, K, and V model Cadillacs may experience open or intermittent connections wherever Metri-Pak 150 pull-to-seat terminals are used. The following is a list of connectors that may be affected by this problem:

Carline Connection Location -------- ------------------------ C/E/K/V A/C Low Pressure Switch C/E/K A/C Low and High Side Temperature Sensors C/E/K Brake Fluid Level Switch D/V Coolant Temperature Sensor V Door Lock Switch V Door Switch Illumination - Right Side C/E/K/V Engine Metal Temperature Switch D Electronic Spark Timing Module D Evaporator Inlet Temperature Sensor C/D/E/K Manifold Air Temperature Sensor V Memory Seat Switch - Left Side V Outside Air Temperature Sensor V Oil Level Switch V Power Steering Pressure Switch C/D/E/K Throttle Position Sensor C Under Hood Lamp C/E/K Vehicle Speed Sensor C/E/K/V Washer Fluid Level Switch

C = DeVille and Fleetwood; D = Brougham; E = Eldorado; K = Seville; V = Allante

Intermittent or open connections in these connectors may be caused by misformed female terminals. Refer to Figure 1. Misformed terminals may be identified by the foot of the terminal tongue being trapped under the core of the wire. To repair this condition replace the female terminal with terminal P/N 12047680 (available in the terminal repair kit J-38125)

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
