RATTLING SOUND APPARENT AT LEFT OR RIGHT HEAD RESTRAINT

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989-1990 'C'

Some 1989/1990 Buick "C" and Cadillac (C60 Special only) models may experience a "rattling sound" at the left or right head restraint assemblies.

To repair this condition, use the following procedure:

1. Remove seat back assist straps as described in the service manual update bulletin 89-10-19, Section 4-1-1.

2. Remove seat back trim panel.

3. Remove drive cable and gear.

4. Remove head restraint and disconnect hose.

5. Remove shaft retainer.

6. Separate shaft retainer and cement two pieces of velcro material (pile side only) into housing as shown in Figure 1.

7. Reinstall parts as required.
