The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Questions on ground illumination lamp (puddle lights) operation have been received. SI and the owner's manual are not clear on the operation.

For the puddle lamps to operate, "Approach Lighting" must be turned on using the (DIC) Drivers Information Center buttons and it must be dark outside. If both requirements are met and the unlock button is pressed on the key fob, the puddle lamps will illuminate for approximately 20-30 seconds.

Note: On previous models, the puddle lamps would also illuminate when exiting the vehicle. There was a design change made and the puddle lamps will no longer illuminate when exiting the vehicle, unless the unlock button is pressed on the key fob.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
