The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A dealer may be attempting to install the "factory style" XM- radio kit from GM Accessories and states that the XM™ band will not pull up on the radio. The tech may comment that he can communicate with the radio and Digital Radio Reciever (XM-) with the TECH 2.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Some General Motors factory radios are not compatible with the XM- factory kit. Dealers should verify radio compatibility for the desired kit in the GM parts catalog before ordering and attempting the installation.
The XM- factory kit should only be installed into the vehicle it is designed for as compatibility has not been verified.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
