Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering pump assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 404915  Size: SH
  3. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir studs (2) from the power steering pump assembly (1).
  4. Remove the power steering pump fitting (4).
  5. Remove the power steering pump fitting seal (3).

  6. Object Number: 404928  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pump flow control valve (2) and the power steering pump flow control valve spring (3) from the power steering pump assembly (1).

  8. Object Number: 404931  Size: SH
  9. Separate the power steering fluid reservoir (1) and the power steering pump (2).

  10. Object Number: 404947  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering pump seals (1, 4, 5).
  12. Remove and clean the power steering fluid reservoir magnet (3).
  13. Inspect the welch plug in the power steering pump (2). DO NOT REMOVE IT. If the welch plug is deformed or dislodged then replace the power steering pump (2).

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 404947  Size: SH
  1. Clean and install the power steering fluid reservoir magnet (3).
  2. Install the power steering pump seals (1, 4, 5) to the power steering pump (2).

  3. Object Number: 404931  Size: SH
  4. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir (1) and the power steering pump (2).

  5. Object Number: 404928  Size: SH
  6. Install the power steering pump flow control valve spring (3) and the power steering pump flow control valve (2) to the power steering pump assembly (1).

  7. Object Number: 404915  Size: SH
  8. Install the power steering pump fitting seal (3) to the power steering pump assembly (1).
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Start the power steering fluid reservoir studs and the power steering pump flow control valve fitting by hand before finalizing any torques.

  10. Install the power steering pump fitting (4) to the power steering pump assembly (1).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).

  12. Install the power steering fluid reservoir studs (2) to the power steering pump assembly (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 58 N·m (44 lb ft).

  14. Install the power steering pump assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.
