Generator Bracket Replacement 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L Engines

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 759636  Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery cable junction block bracket bolts.

  2. Object Number: 847280  Size: SH
  3. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
  4. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.
  5. Remove the generator bracket bolts.
  6. Remove the generator bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 847280  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the generator bracket bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.
  6. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 759636  Size: SH
  8. Install the battery cable junction block bracket bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

Generator Bracket Replacement 8.1L Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 759640  Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery cable junction block bracket bolts.

  2. Object Number: 751458  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fan and clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
  5. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
  6. Remove the generator bracket bolts and nut.
  7. Remove the generator bracket stud.
  8. Remove the generator bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 751458  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   3. Install the generator bracket stud.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the stud to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the generator bracket bolts and nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft)

  7. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
  8. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
  9. Install the fan and clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  10. Object Number: 759640  Size: SH
  11. Install the battery cable junction block bracket bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
