Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 2035534 Size: SH
  1. Remove the transmission oil pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement.
  2. Note: Do not remove the valve body for the following procedures. Removal of the 1-2 accumulator is necessary only if servicing the pressure control solenoid.

  3. Remove the 1-2 accumulator if necessary. Refer to Accumulator Assembly, Spacer Plate, and Gaskets.
  4. Disconnect all the internal wiring harness electrical connectors from the electrical components (1-6).

  5. Object Number: 2041450 Size: SH
  6. Remove the solenoid retainer bolt (364A) and the solenoid retainer (378).
  7. Remove the pressure control solenoid (377).
  8. Note the orientation upon removal.

    Object Number: 298169 Size: SH
  9. Remove the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoid retainers.
  10. Remove the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 298169 Size: SH

Caution: Be sure all solenoids are installed with the electrical connectors facing the non-machined (cast) side of the valve body; otherwise, the solenoids will bind against the transmission case as the valve body bolts are tightened and damage may occur.

  1. Install the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids.
  2. Install the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoid retainers.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Object Number: 2041450 Size: SH
  4. Install the following items:
  5. 3.1. The actuator feed limit valve (374)
3.2. The actuator feed limit valve spring (375)
    3.3. The bore plug (376)
3.4. The bore plug retainer (395)
3.5. The pressure control solenoid (377)
    3.6. The solenoid retainer (378)
3.7. Tighten the pressure control solenoid retaining bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in)

    Object Number: 2035534 Size: SH
  6. Connect all the internal wiring harness electrical connectors to the electrical components (1-6).
  7. Install the 1-2 accumulator. Refer to Accumulator Assembly, Spacer Plate, and Gaskets.
  8. Install the transmission oil pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement.
  9. Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® VI transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check.
  10. Note: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  11. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions.
