Removal Procedure

Important: Clean all evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting, in order to avoid possible EVAP system contamination.


    Object Number: 1224403  Size: SH
  1. Remove the right side, rear bumper step pad. Refer to Rear Bumper Step Pad Replacement in Bumpers.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid (CVS) electrical connector (1).

  5. Disconnect the EVAP canister quick connect lines. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Remove the EVAP canister bolt.
  7. Lower the vehicle half way.

  9. Loosen the EVAP canister bracket nuts (1).

  10. Object Number: 1372958  Size: SH
  11. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, disengage the front bracket clip.

  12. Object Number: 1372960  Size: SH
  13. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, disengage the rear bracket clip.
  14. Remove the EVAP canister.
  15. Cap the EVAP lines in order to prevent possible EVAP system contamination.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1372960  Size: SH
  1. Remove the caps from the EVAP lines.
  2. Install the EVAP canister.
  3. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, engage the rear bracket clip.

  4. Object Number: 1372958  Size: SH
  5. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, engage the front bracket clip.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1373032  Size: SH
  7. Tighten the EVAP canister bracket nuts (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1372543  Size: SH
  9. Raise the vehicle.
  10. Install the EVAP canister bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Connect the EVAP canister quick connecting lines. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  14. Connect the EVAP CVS electrical connector (1).
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Install the right side, rear bumper step pad. Refer to Rear Bumper Step Pad Replacement in Bumpers.
