Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the upper radiator baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the headlamps. Refer to Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  5. Remove the upper condenser mounting bolts.

  6. Object Number: 400853  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bolts from the front end diagonal brace.
  8. Remove the front end diagonal brace.
  9. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Lower Shroud Replacement and Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  10. Object Number: 401547  Size: SH
  11. Remove the tie bar to radiator brace bolts (1). Access the bolts from the rear of the upper radiator support using an extension.

  12. Object Number: 373066  Size: SH
  13. Remove the radiator mounting bolts from the rear side of the tie bar.

  14. Object Number: 373069  Size: SH
  15. Remove the tie bar bolts.

  16. Object Number: 371705  Size: SH
  17. Remove the upper headlamp housing support screws.
  18. Remove the tie bar.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 373069  Size: SH
  1. Position the tie bar onto the lower radiator support.
  2. Install the tie bar bolts hand tight.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Ensure that the alignment is proper.

  4. Tighten the tie bar bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the tie bar bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  6. Install the upper headlamp housing support screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the upper headlamp housing support screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the radiator mounting bolts onto the rear side of the tie bar.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the radiator mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Install the tie bar to the radiator brace bolts (1). Access the bolts from the rear of the tie bar using an extension.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the radiator brace bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  12. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Lower Shroud Replacement and Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  13. Object Number: 400853  Size: SH
  14. Install the front end diagonal brace.
  15. Install the front end diagonal brace bolts.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the front end diagonal brace bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  17. Install the upper condenser mounting bolts.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the upper condenser mounting bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  19. Install the headlamps. Refer to Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  20. Install the upper radiator baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  21. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
