DEFINITION: One or more heat/cool seat switch indicators are inoperative and the related heat/cool seat function may or may not operate.

Does the system operate normally?

Does the heat/cool seat function of the affected indicator operate?

  1. Disconnect the heat/cool seat switch connector.
  2. Test the heat/cool seat switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the heat/cool seat switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.
  3. Test the ignition voltage supply circuit to the heat/cool seat switch for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect the heat/cool seat switch.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Using a DMM, test the voltage of the heat select switch signal circuit by back probing the terminal in the switch connector.
  5. Press and hold the heat select switch.

Is the voltage at or near the specified value?

12 V

  1. Using a DMM, test the voltage of the indicator control circuit by back probing the terminal in the switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.
  3. Operate the system in a mode which the indicator would normally be illuminated.

Is the voltage at or near the specified value?

12 V

  1. Using a DMM, test the voltage of the affected switch signal circuit by back probing the terminal in the switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.
  3. Press and hold the affected switch.

Is the voltage at or near the specified value?

12 V

Test the indicator control circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
