Stabilizer Shaft Replacement 15 Series

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 545533  Size: SH
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link nut from the ball stud.

  4. Object Number: 582397  Size: SH
  5. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators brackets.
  8. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators.

  2. Object Number: 582397  Size: SH
  3. Install the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator brackets to the rear axle.
  5. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts.

  6. Object Number: 613612  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: When tightening the lower link nut verify that the inner jam nut bottoms out on the ball stud.

  7. Install the stabilizer shaft link nut to the ball stud.
  8. Tighten

    1. Tighten the ball stud to stabilizer shaft nut to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the insulator bracket bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
  9. Lower the vehicle.
