Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement HP2

Component Name

Danger: Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.

The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:

   • Identify how to disable high voltage.
   • Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
   • Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  3. Remove the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side
  4. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  5. Remove air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement.
  6. Remove the suction hose. Refer to Suction Hose Replacement.
  7. Disconnect electrical connector from A/C low pressure switch.

Accumulator Mounting Bracket Nut

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip
Discard all of the used sealing washers.

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb in)

Accumulator Nut

Tip
Discard all of the used sealing washers.

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb in)

Accumulator

Tip
Remove accumulator through wheelhouse opening.

Preliminary Procedure

Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

Suction Hose Nut

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip
Large A/C compressor hose to A/C evaporator.

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb ft)

A/C Suction Hose

Sealing Washer

Tip
Remove and discard sealing washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement.

Accumulator Mounting Bracket Nut

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb ft)

Accumulator Nut

Tighten
16 N·m (12 lb ft)

Sealing Washer

Tip
Remove and discard sealing washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement.

Accumulator

Tip
Replacement service accumulators are shipped dry (no PAG oil). Add proper amount of oil to system before operating. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities.
