The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some owners may comment of a creak type noise heard while driving over rough roads causing body twist. This concern may occur at any of the side doors and may sound like it is from the door, "B", or "C" Pillar area. This concern could be caused by the door striker. When the striker is loaded with any up/down motion, a creak noise is produced from the area where the striker pin interfaces with the stamping hole at the head of the pin, as shown below. The door striker pin may not have adequate peening of the pin head causing insufficient "filling" of metal in the stamping hole. If the striker is removed and installed at the opposite side door, the noise will originate from that side.

Replace the door striker.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
