The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Engineering recently defined a very specific concern in some OnStar® Gen 7 series Continental VCIM's in the following STID ranges.

20,000,001 - 20,450,000

20,450,001 - 22,000,000

44,500,001 - 47,500,000

Important Note: The condition must fit ALL of these criteria.

  1. The vehicle has progression tones AFTER a key press that does not end by pressing the call end button.
  2. After the call end key is pressed (or after several minutes), the GREEN LED CHANGES FROM FLASHING TO SOLID DESPITE THE PROGRESSION TONES STILL HAPPENING.
  3. The radio audio will not return so the progression tones are heard while the above is occurring.
  4. The customer will not be able to end the condition under normal means which may include cycling the key.
  5. The OnStar® STID is within the above listed ranges.
  6. The vehicle has already been properly configured (Tech-2 reflects has GEO MIN/MDN).

Recommendation/Instructions:

After testing for this concern specifically, Continental has identified a software issue internal to the VCIM. If this concern is occurring contact the OnStar® group at GMTAC for further instructions.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
