The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

There may be some confusion when performing a Theft Deterrent relearn or set up procedure on one of the above mentioned vehicles.

Recommendation/Instructions:

There are two Theft Deterrent related selections available on the "Supported Controllers" screen of TIS 2000. TDM (Theft Deterrent Module) is used to write operating software to the Theft Deterrent Module and is only necessary when replacing the Theft Deterrent Module. The V.T.D. (Vehicle Theft Deterrent) selection is used to allow the Theft Deterrent Module to learn new keys or to teach the Engine Control Module (ECM) the Theft password.

Note:  There is ONLY a 10 minute V.T.D. learn available. The 30 minute V.T.D. learn is not supported on these vehicles.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
