The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

When performing rear axle repairs on the vehicles listed above (other than complete replacement), please record the axle pin stamp identification on the repair order. Including this information will assist in the analysis and investigation of axle concerns on parts that are returned to the Warranty Parts Center.

Note: Front or rear axle fluid leak that appears to be from the end of the axle vent hose, most often occur during hot ambient temperatures and/or while towing.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The axle pin stamp identification is located on the right hand axle tube, facing rearward or facing up. The picture below is provided to show a typical pin stamp. The appearance and numbering can vary. Please enter the pin stamp information in the technician comments of the repair order.
