The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Starting with Tech 2 Version 27.003, the Tech 2 now has a new function for Tire Pressure Monitoring called "TPM Copy and Paste". This function can be used to copy all the information that is related to the tire pressure monitoring system (including tire sensor ID's) and paste the information into a new or freshly SPS re-programmed remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR).

Note:  If the steps below are not followed in the correct order, the TPM Copy and Paste function will not work correctly and you will have to Set up the TPM information manually and then perform a sensor relearn procedure. See Document # 1684976 in SI2000 if additional information is needed.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Build the vehicle using the Tech 2.
  2. Using the Tech 2, navigate to Vehicle Control Systems / Module ID Information / Remote Control Door Lock Receiver / Tire Information.
  3. Write down all four Pressure Sensor IDs on a sheet of paper.
  4. Using the Tech 2, navigate to Vehicle Control Systems / Module Setup / Remote Control Door Lock Receiver/ Copy and Paste TPM INFO
  5. Select: F0: Step 1 (This is copying all the information that is related to tire pressure monitoring and saving it in the Tech 2)
  6. The next step depends on what type of service you are performing to the RCDLR.
  7. • If you are programming the RCDLR for a campaign or software update to the RCDLR, you would now proceed with SPS programming the RCDLR
    •  If you are replacing the module for a keyless entry concern, you would now proceed with replacing the RCDLR and then SPS programming the module.

Note: If you are replacing the RCDLR to correct a tire pressure monitoring issue, it is not recommended to use the Copy and Paste Procedure.

  8. Using the Tech 2, navigate to Vehicle Control Systems / Module Setup / Remote Control Door Lock Receiver/ Copy and Paste TPM INFO
  9. Select: F1: Step 2 (This is putting all the information that is related to tire pressure monitoring and entering it back in the RCDLR)
  10. Using the Tech 2, navigate to Vehicle Control Systems / Module ID Information / Remote Control Door Lock Receiver / Tire Information.
  11. Verify that the four Pressure Sensor IDs match those that were recorded in Step 3.
  12. Go into diagnostics and check for DTC codes and clear all codes.
  13. After performing the copy and paste procedure, you will notice that the DIC will show dashes for the tire pressures and the Tech 2 will show all the tire pressures at 148 PSI. You will need to perform one of the following to update the DIC.
  14. • Drive the vehicle at highway speeds
    • Hit the Activate button at each sensor with the J-46079 Tire Pressure Monitor Diagnostic Tool. This will wake up the sensor and update the DIC.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
