The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may complain that the TCS/VSES indicators came on at start up and the DIC may display a "Service Traction Control" and/or "Service Stabilitrak" message. There will be a history C0196 DTC set in the EBCM. Engineering has found a very rare initialization issue that could cause this concern at start up only. If the ignition key is cycled off and then the engine restarted the concern will not return. This issue is very intermittent and may only occur a few times in the life of the vehicle.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Do not replace the EBCM or Yaw Sensor if DTC C0196 is in history and the concern occurred right after start up. Engineering is aware of this very rare initialization issue and working on this concern.
Noce: If you are working on a vehicle with a C0196 that is current or even history, and the concern is somewhat repeatable then this PI does not apply and normal diagnostic should be performed.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
